The PETRUS Coordination and Support Project organized the kick-off event of the national EUROQCI projects
EuroQCI Quantum specialists met at the European Commission to mark the launch of over 30 EuroQCI projects supported by the Digital Europe Program. This is a huge step forward on the journey to implement the EuroQCI Network in Europe
By harnessing the power of quantum physics, the EuroQCI will provide an additional layer of security for sensitive data and critical infrastructure, such as government institutions, data centers, hospitals, energy grids, and more.
The projects will now start building national quantum communication networks, as well as developing technologies and devices to be used by the EuroQCI.
This was also a kick-off for the PETRUS Coordination and Support Action (CSA) lead by Deutsche Telekom Global Business Belgium together with its partners Airbus Defence and Space, AIT Austrian Institute of Technology GmbH and THALES SIX GTS FRANCE SAS. Other industry experts and partners were also present to meet with the Digital Europe Program projects.
PETRUS will
- Prepare to deploy a large-scale testing and certification infrastructure for QKD devices, technologies and systems
- Facilitate standardisation and accreditation at EU level.
- Coordinate national QCI projects:
- support discussions on user requirements and use cases,
- and return of experience from the deployment of advanced national quantum systems and networks including on EU QKD components and systems;
- coordinate the activities for developing an EU QKD ecosystem and the industrialisation of QKD devices in the EU
- support the discussions on the further development of the national deployment plans and strategic efforts, for achieving an overall EuroQCI system (spatial and terrestrial segments).
The event was coordinated by Program Manager Keith Elder.
