The Quantum Flagship has produced a 46-page guide on intellectual property (IP) for European quantum technologists. This guide “targets those who, in the quantum technology domain, need to build sustainable IPR management and valorisation strategies to support their business activities.”
The IP guide provides help for quantum technology professionals interested in deepening their understanding of how to use IPR more effectively to support business strategy and operational practices, thus enhancing impact and strengthening their competitive position in the marketplace.
The document is organized into three main sections – IPR and intellectual assets, IPR commercialization, and IPR and standards – and covers a broad range of relevant topics from computer-implemented inventions (CII) to patent litigation. Additionally, an appendix provides useful information on the legal framework of EU-funded projects.
The paper is authored by the European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC) and the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) on behalf of the Quantum Flagship project.
