EuroQCI projects play a crucial role in shaping future infrastructure that remains impervious to cybersecurity attacks, even in the era when quantum computing becomes available to cybercriminals. The European Commission has introduced the first-ever European cybersecurity certification scheme in accordance with the EU Cybersecurity Act. This scheme establishes Union-wide rules and procedures for certifying ICT products throughout their lifecycle, enhancing their trustworthiness for users.
The certification offers formal acknowledgment that ICT products are reliable in safeguarding the hardware and software that citizens use every day. The voluntary scheme complements the Cyber Resilience Act, which sets binding cybersecurity standards for all hardware and software products in the EU.
Along with the certification scheme’s publication, the Commission will release the first Union Rolling Work Programme for European cybersecurity certification, which outlines a strategic vision and potential future areas for European cybersecurity certification schemes, considering recent legislative and market trends.
